Men's Standard
The Men’s Standard series is an exploration of fitness standards that have been placed on men, specifically in regards to magazine covers. The series focuses heavily on the use of words that are used to attract, compel and shame men into purchasing these magazines with the of hopes of achieving the body standards presented.
The usage of words on these magazine covers are used to promise easy achievements, sexual fantasies or to shame men into purchasing their magazines. The males used on these covers promote idealized body imagery and the editorial's ideas of health standards, which don't always promote health but rather the idea of curated masculinity.
The manipulation of words in the Men's Standard series is to shoe the absurdity and insecurities that these magazines use to attract people. By leaning into the usage of this language, it exposes the absurdity that these companies use to promote their products through a perception of curated masculinity.

Men's Standard was my first take on examining men's fitness standards. It focused more on the linguistics used to shame men into buying products that would "help" achieve their fitness standards.
